How It Started 

Thimble & Hearth started the way the best things do: as a gift, made with love, for the people who matter most.

That first candle was a little tin of Bahama Mama - a scent blended by hand and tucked into a Mother's Day gift box for family and friends. There was no grand plan. No business strategy. Just the belief that making something beautiful for the people you love is always worth the effort.

The people who received it loved it. And the feeling of making something that delighted someone never went away. 

The Person Behind It

I'm Elizabeth. Former classical pianist, homeschool mom, travel lover, and the obsessive curator behind every fragrance object you'll find here.

Here's how I work: I don't create a scent unless it's something I absolutely have to have in my own home. If it doesn't stop me in my tracks, if I don't find myself reaching for it every single day, it doesn't make the collection. You and your home deserve that standard.

I've spent my whole life obsessing over beautiful things. As a classical pianist I practiced the same phrase hundreds of times until it was exactly right, just the way I wanted it to sound. I've always loved making things by hand, and in making candles for my home and for other's I've found a creative outlet that allows me to share my love of scent and creating a cozy, welcoming home with others. 

I travel whenever I can, exploring the world with my family and coming home with a head full of scents, places, and feelings and ideas that I want to incorporate into my own home. Some of my fragrances come from those experiences. Some come from the particular magic of a New England autumn or the smell of the coast 30 minutes from my studio. 

The Meaning Behind the Name

The name says it all, really.

The thimble is for everything made by hand, with intention, by a real person who cares. Not in a factory, not by a machine, not as an afterthought, but crafted with care by hand, one small batch at a time, and using the very best materials. 

The hearth is for home. Your home, my home, the idea that where you live should be your safest and most beautiful place. A sanctuary that reflects who you actually are.

From the Kitchen Island to the Studio...

Thimble & Hearth started at a kitchen island, the way a lot of good things do. Just a wax melter, a collection of fragrance oils, and an idea that felt worth pursuing.

It didn't stay at the kitchen island for long.

As the collections grew and the orders came in, it became clear that this needed more space, more intention, and more room to grow properly. So a dedicated studio was built. A real workspace, purpose-built for candle and fragrance production, where every batch gets the focus and care it deserves.

Having a proper studio has changed everything. Better process, better product, and a much happier kitchen. The family appreciates that last part most of all.
